Five Minute Friday - Garden

Garden...something I used to resent and hated with a passion. Now - garden is something I long for.  I can't wait to get my hands in the dirt; to grow and nurture something.

I want my kids to understand the importance of a garden. Gardens are our teachers. We learn to be patient and caring. We learn to love and nurture. We learn to reap what we sow. We learn responsibility. Gardens teach us so much!

I don't think my husband and children understands my garden obsession. I love looking at and walking thru gardens. My parents are avid gardeners. Mom is the planner, dad the labor. Their gardens blossom with the love that they share for each other as well as their home, family and community. I love visiting during the summer to see what new foliage has come to visit. My grandfather was the same way. He invested so much time to the care of his gardens.  However, I don't know if he ever really learned to be patient with his plants. :)

I can say that I am no good at gardening plants or vegetables. I need help keeping any type of vegetation alive, although the older I get I have seen improvement. I am thankful that I have gotten pretty good at tending another kind of garden. I think I've gotten pretty good at gardening my children and my husband. They are the garden of my life. They have taught me patience and caring, the art of nurturing, mounds of responsibility and organization. Yup- I have to say my family garden is in full bloom.

  1. I am also no good at gardening plants and vegetables. I often say I have brown thumbs. LOL. But, I love how you are "gardening your children". I've never thought about it like that. So good. Visiting from FMF. Blessings!
